Amy and I both took her this morning and we did surprisingly well. When Emma walked into her classroom, she, of course, acted shy and put her zingers (fingers) in her mouth like she does anytime she is uncomfortable. Amy took a few pictures and we then we kissed her goodbye and got out of there. Apparently she did pretty good for her first day. Her teacher, Mrs. Stacie, sent a note home that Emma got a little whiney around 11 because she was tired. When Emma got home from school, she had a frog puppet in her backpack that she had made. Amy has already claimed it for Emma's scrapbook, so it will be preserved for all time. It was a good day.

New Parent Orientation

Emma starts Preschool on Friday. Last night we went to new parent orientation. Other than Sam "talking" the entire time, it went good. Just to elaborate on Sam though - this is the child that I thought would never talk. He is usually pretty quiet, especially if he has his pacifier. But put him in a church sanctuary with one person talking to about 100 other people and he becomes Mr. Chatter Box. Running up and down the aisles, standing in the seats. Needless to say, Stuart took him out about 1/2 way through. Anyway, I had ordered Emma a tote bag through the school, because they recommend the smaller kids not use back packs because they are difficult for them to get things in and out of. Well, Emma's backpack was there at parent orientation for us to pick up and oh the look on her face when she saw it. She was SO excited. She carried her bag around the rest of the evening. The lady who makes the bags snapped a picture of her with her bag and sent it to me. I have never attached a picture so I hope this works.

Neija

I am working on posting more to the blog. We are all looking forward to Christmas. Emma is a lot of fun this year. If we pass a house or store with Christmas decorations she says “Look, Christmas.” She has watched the Polar Express at least 10 times, but now we have moved on to Rudolph or in her words “I wanta watch reindeers.” She has visited Santa twice. The second time, today at Stuart’s work, she walked in the room and walked right up to him and got in his lap. She wasn’t so sure of him the first time we saw him. He asked that she leave some carrots for the reindeer in addition to cookies for him. Sam does not like Santa!!!<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

Happy Halloween!

Trick or treat consisted of visiting the grandparents and going to a fall festival being held at one of the churches in town.

Sam is thrilled. Emma is still afraid of the fire and smoke – and apparently now she is afraid of the cook coming toward anyone as he serves their food. She loved the soup and salad though. Sam munched on Puffs all night. Actually, the floor got most of them but he was entertained trying. Hey, whatever works! We then ventured to Target where Emma skipped throughout the entire store singing “I Believe” from the movie Shrek. She would stop every now and then to look at something and <s>say </s>yell “Oh, pretty.” Then continue to skip and sing “I Believe.” I am sure everyone in Target was ready for us to leave.

Weekend

To sum up this weekend - big yard sale on Saturday along with college football. Georgia lost so the day ended on a bad note; however, Sunday started off pretty good as Auburn got beat by UCF around 1 a.m. Sunday was full of laying around as much as possible. Amy is making me take my daughter up to bed so she can have her pillow back. Emma is lying on the couch asleep and Amy is dying to go to bed. I had to stay upstairs with Emma so I could reassure her that I was close by while she slept.

The short version, to get everyone caught up, is that I am at a new job, closer to home, I am supposed to be reading or studying right now for my doctoral program at UGA, and Amy and I are raising 2 beautiful kids. I hope to update pictures frequently, as many have requested updates.

Here's Sam

Here's Sam again

OK, he's over the picture taking.
